The chemistry between William Powell and Myrna Loy was so right that their first film spawned five sequels. The pair play Nick and Nora Charles; he is a veteran detective, she his sophisticated wife. After The Thin Man, the second in the series, presents a great combination of murder, mystery, and screwball comedy as Nick and Nora return from vacation to find Nora's cousin Selma's ne'er-do-well husband Robert is missing. Nick is coerced into a little quiet detective work for the family. Look for Jimmy Stewart in an early role and, as always, their dog, Asta.
